Raw Matters Ambassador at School

RM@School is a wider society learning project, focused on the innovative program to make science education and careers in Raw Materials (RM) attractive for youngsters, involving RM experts and teachers (RM Ambassadors).

Objective

RM@Schools objective is to propose to schools an active learning by involving students in experiments with RM-related hands-on educational kits and in communication activities. All students will be introduced to the RM topics by RM Ambassadors (experts from the consortium). Students from 14 to 19 years old will be asked to become “Young Raw Matters Ambassadors” themselves and create dissemination products focused on RM by using two idioms, the native and English languages.

The solution

Outcomes of the project are: methods to train and support RM Ambassadors who will educate school students about science, technology and RM-related fields. These ‘ambassadors’ are situated in their own region and will visit the local schools.

  • 16 RM toolkits for Science & Technology education, developed by the Consortium in order to transform the classes into a lab.
  • 600 pupils involved (24 “pilot” classes)
  • 20 trained school teachers on RM themes
  • 500 participants in Wider Society Learning events: Final conference and Exhibition held in Bologna, Italy, on 23 November 2016, hosted by CNR Research Area.
  • 10 letters of interest from companies available to accept student excursions
  • 1 website and 1 virtual centre (e-learning platform)
  • 1 EU network and 6 local networks involving the local resources (Research Centre, Schools, Companies, Museum, Mines, etc.)
